Refer The Most Friends to Store Adore and Win this Bag (a $690 value!)

Here is the sleek Treesje Vienna Patent Shoulder Bag, available at hot handbag central, Luna Boston. We think the picture says it all, but here are a few of our thoughts.

The shiny patent finish and basket weave insert are oh so eye-catching. The shape is near perfection—ladylike and classic, but with enough texture and gold hardware to give it a modern edge. It would fit all the essentials and then some, but it’s not one of those monstrous bags that could engulf a small person. And this style would look impeccable from the office to after-hours.

You can win this amazing piece of arm-candy by referring the most friends to Store Adore when you sign up here.

If you’ve already signed up, just fill in the sidebar at the right of the page here.

Every friend who signs up for Store Adore and writes your name in the “referred by” field will count.

Contest starts August 14th and ends September 15th. And if you don’t win, remember that you can get lots of other sure-to-be signature pieces from Luna Boston for a 20 percent discount with code “storeadore”!

Good luck!

Soft, cozy, ultra-wearable—we’re talking about your favorite tee, that flattering and versatile thing you’re not sure how you could live without. But we could very well be describing every piece sold by über tee maven Lilla P. Pauline Nakios plugged into our deep love of the iconic T-shirt when she founded the brand in 1998, and it’s become a go-to for high-quality iterations of the perfect tee in all its forms (tanks, scoopnecks, raglan-sleeved cardigans, turtlenecks, you name it). Nakios has also incorporated the same drapey fabrics into pieces we’re mad for—like fabulous pima cotton fold-over skirts and super-flattering tank dresses.

Starting July 30th, we’ll be giving away 3 gift certificates worth $250 each at Lilla P’s comprehensive e-shop. Stay tuned for info on how to win!

In the meantime, score 20 percent at Lilla P. Find out how by clicking here.

Announcing the Winners of our Beautorium Giveaway!

By Store Adore

Last month, we gave away three gift certificates from Beautorium, our favorite site for organic makeup and beauty products! Here, meet our three winners and get the scoop on their favorite stores!

1. Kaitlin Duncan

“Growing up on Long Island, Montauk has been a summer destination for my family for a long time. One of my favorite ‘East End’ stores has always been Haven, an awesome clothing/beauty/home store. For several years I could not go home without either a cute wooden picture frame, beach bag, or even a piece of furniture! I was so upset when the store had to close for the past seasons, but I hear that they are open for this season… and I will certainly be happy to return to my favorite Montauk shopping spot!”

2. Valerie Seefried

“My favorite Store Adore store is Diane von Furstenberg. She makes fabulous dresses that are beautifully fitted—her eye-catching prints always garner a deluge of compliments, no matter the occasion or where I am in the world!”

3. Kate Witten (pictured here with nephew Eli)

“My fave StoreAdore shop is Luna. There’s one in Atlanta and one in Bethesda near where my sister lives.”

The votes are in, and we have a winner!

Congratulations are in order for Meg Rush of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, who won a super-indulgent Vosges Haut-Chocolat La Grande Hatbox, a luxurious box set packed to the brim with exotic gourmet chocolates! Read her winning story here.

We asked Meg a few question about her favorite shopping haunts and habits.

Meg’s favorite home decor shops:

1. Diptyque has the most heavenly candles. My favorite, especially for winter, is essence of John Galliano and I love to burn the lavender candle right before bedtime.

2. I am a big fan of Etsy, especially for artwork! My husband commissioned a portrait of me by John Clark for Christmas.

3. The MOMA Design Store is a great place to buy home accessories or gifts.

4. Bliss Home on Newbury Street is the only place I know of in Boston to buy luggage by Mandarina Duck. They also have a great collection of pieces by alessi.

5. I fell in love with Whittard of Chelsea while studying abroad in Oxford. I’ve been collecting pieces for my tea set over the last seven years. I stocked up on my honeymoon in London, to come home and discover that Whittard was opening its first US store in Boston.

Meg on her “personal style uniform”…

In the summer I tend to wear “thow and go” sun dresses, so that I look put together with minimal effort. I almost always have on a piece of jewelry that I’ve designed myself, or something by Les Nereides. I tend to wear a lot of headbands during the summer because they help tame my curly hair!

What style are you ready to see go?

I’m currently reading Eccentric Glamour: Creating an Insanely More Fabulous You by the fabulous Simon Doonan. I have to agree with Doonan, I wish more girls would just “Say no to Ho!”

Last month, we launched our Beautorium contest, offering $75 Beautorium gift certificates to the three commenters with the best beauty tips. Once again, we’re leaving the final decision up to you!

Here are our six semi-finalists. Pick your favorite, and we’ll reward the three most popular authors with Beautorium gift cards!

All comments must be received by Friday, June 20th. Commenters who do not have existing accounts will be granted free memberships to Store Adore.

A. Kate

As strange as it may sound, my favorite beauty product is Mama Bee Belly Butter made by Burt’s Bees. My grandma accidentally purchased a “mother and child” type gift set for me, although I am in no way pregnant, so I decided I would try to use the Belly Butter product on my “dryish” skin. It was amazing- and worked so much better than any other body butter or lotion! I’m almost out so, until a new one comes, I am wiping the inside of the jar for more!

B. Val

I’ve tried out a whole series of anti-aging face/eye creams, and forked out more cash than I’m willing to admit in the hope that they’ll reverse sun damage and keep me looking young for as long as possible. But I’ve always got a niggling doubt that I’m being conned and that these are just over-priced moisturizer. In late March of this year, British scientists released results from an independent study on Boots No 7 Protect and Perfect cream demonstrating that they work just as well as effective creams only available by doctor’s prescription. The day after the results were publicized, the creams sold out all over the UK! You can buy them quite easily here in the US, they’re not nearly as expensive as Clarins or other high end creams, and they’ve been scientifically proven to work. I’ve ordered some online and am waiting impatiently for them to arrive!

C. Stefanie
I used to spend tons of money on dept store facial care products, but switched to drugstore Aveeno years ago and love it!! I used the daily scrub cleanser (which has the perfect amount of exfoliation), the SPF30 moisturizing cream and the Positively Ageless night cream.

The one thing I recently discovered that’s not in the Aveeno family is Dr. Wexler’s Skin Regeneration serum. It has noticeably tightened my pores and brightened my complexion

D. Kara
I’m obsessed with Fekkai color care shampoo and conditioners (the pink line). The smell is the perfect mix between sweet and soapy clean, and the conditioner gets out the tangles better than any other. I first tried the Fekkai products when my boyfriend and I stayed at the Ritz on Central Park South for our anniversary. Although they are currently sold at Sephora, department stores, and Ricky’s, I still buy my pink Fekkai products in the gift shop at the Ritz!

E. Kate W.

I have so many tubes of Kiehl’s Baby Lip Balm that I find them in totally random nooks and crannies now, and each time I react like I’ve just found a $20. I am allergic to just about any other lip product out there and this is the only one that I not only tolerate but looove. I tried to “grow up” and once bought the adult Kiehl’s lip balm, but it wasn’t the same so I’m sticking with the baby version.

F. Ella

So, this is not cheap, but by gum it is amazing, and 2 pumps a day from the big bottle means it lasts a very long time: Shu Uemera’s Cleansing Oil. i use the green bottle - i’m not sure which variety it is, but i do know that it feels great going on and washes right off with no residue. it is some sort of weird chemical reaction - as soon as water hits the oil, it changes into something a little bit emulsified or something and just rinses right off. i know it sounds odd to clean your face with oil, but it means that your skin doesn’t ever get dry, and i think it is actually is really calming for your skin not to be attacked by soaps and suds.

Decide the Winner of Our Vosges Giveaway!

Last month, we asked you to tell us about your favorite shopping indulgence. The reward? A pretty incredible indulgence in its own right: Vosges’ La Grande Hatbox, a luxurious box set packed to the brim with exotic gourmet chocolates.

We received so many fabulous responses that we couldn’t decide a winner. We’ve narrowed it down to three finalists. Please help us decide who gets the Vosges by leaving a comment with the name of your pick. The author of the most popular tale of indulgence will get the prize!

All comments must be received by Friday, June 20th. Commenters who do not have existing accounts will be granted free memberships to Store Adore.

A. Meg Rush

My biggest shopping indulgence was definitely my honeymoon shopping spree! I let my husband believe that we were going to London on our honeymoon because it is the first place we traveled together. After two trips to Harrods to buy salted caramel macaroons, three agonizing trips to Liberty of London where I debated how to maximize my very weak dollars (classic liberty print duvet set, half dozen handkerchiefs), two hats from Marks and Spencer, a Manolo Blahnik designed shoe horn from Habitat, hours at Top Shop and two Whittard of Chelsea tea sets he realized that we actually went to London on our honeymoon because it is my favorite place to shop.

Fortunately my Husband doesn’t mind shopping and really likes scones and clotted cream in the Liberty of London tea room. He also likes Cadbury chocolate, but not quite as much as he likes Vosges ;).

B. Yvonne

Two years ago I watched a television program which visited a wonderful bakery in Paris. Their breads were tauted to be quite wonderful in taste and texture. It was several weeks before Thanksgiving, and a year since my separation from my husband of 40 years. It had been a very contentious process. I decided as a treat for me and my holiday guests, I would email this company and inquire if they could deliver an assortment of their best known products by the holiday. To my surprise, I was able to get the bread a few days before Thanksgiving…and, from Paris! Never before had I spent $60 for 5 loaves of bread of varying sizes and flavors! But it felt good to treat myself to a special surprise.

C. McLean

My favorite shopping indulgence actually doesn’t involve purchases! It’s a great day trip to a shopping mecca (NYC, Las Vegas, or even a quick trek to my native Georgetown) and a day of browsing and trying on the most beautiful clothes I can find. There’s nothing wrong with playing Carrie Bradshaw dress up once every once in awhile, is there? Of course, cap the day with pedicures, a great cocktail, and some dark chocolate (or a cupcake) .. you’ve got to treat yourself somehow!

Current Craving: Five-inch Louboutin patent peep toe evening shoes.
Current Number of Days Until Said Shoes are on my Feet: Approximately 15 (the number until my economic stimulus check arrives).
Current Salary: Just enough to let me buy peanut butter and ramen until the next paycheck arrives due to purchase of aforementioned shoes.

Spill your best beauty secret and win one of three $75 Beautorium Gift Cards! Read on for details…

Tell us about your greatest shopping indulgence and win La Grande Hatbox from Vosges Haut Chocolat (a $187 value)!

A bit of self-discipline is a necessary shopping companion—you have to ask yourself, do I really need this short-sleeve jacket/full-length gown/five-inch heels? On the other hand, sometimes it’s good to indulge—to scoop up that impractical party dress or oversized clutch that you can’t stop thinking about.

What’s your favorite shopping indulgence? Whether it was a one-time buy or a recurring reward (anything from a yearly pair of Loubis to a weekly bouquet of flowers), we want to hear about it!

Just leave a comment (of 200 words or less) below and tell us how you’ve treated yourself. We’ll pick our favorite response and reward the author with one of the best indulgences we know: Vosges’ La Grande Hatbox, packed to the brim with exotic gourmet chocolates.

Inside you’ll find samples of nearly everything Vosges has to offer: A 16-piece Exotic Truffle Collection, La Parisienne Cocoa, 1/2 lb. Bapchi’s Caramel Toffee, 9 piece Aztec Truffle Collection, 18 piece Exotic Caramel Collection and three Exotic Candy Bars of your choosing.

Feast your eyes on just a few of these treats:

All entries must be received by Friday, May 30th at 5 p.m. EST. Good luck!

Win the “Under 30 CEO Summit” Gift Bag!

Wednesday, May 14th, 2008
Posted in Exclusive Giveaways, Store Adore Blog

A couple weeks ago, I squeezed in one last weekend of gorgeous, 60-degree spring skiing at Utah’s Snowbird Resort. But it wasn’t all play – I was attending the “Under 30 CEO Summit” organized by Elliott Bisnow of Bisnow on Business. Elliot gathered 20 young entrepreneurs of up-and-coming companies in a social setting so we could share a few war stories and learn from each other. The attendees included Blake Mycoskie, founder of Toms Shoes, Ben Lerer of Thrillist (a daily lifestyle newsletter targeted at men), and Ryan Allis of iContact, an email marketing company that many Store Adore stores use to stay in touch with their customers on email. It was an impressive bunch and Store Adore was honored to be included.

As a way to introduce our companies, each attendee was asked to bring a gift for the others. Now, all of the other attendees were male, so I had my work cut out for me to create an appealing gift that the guys would love, that would describe what Store Adore is all about. A gift bag seemed like the best way to give them a taste (literally, in some cases) of the types of stores we cover. Food seemed like an obvious starting point, and we have so many delicious options on Store Adore. Dancing Deer offered their latest spring treat, Lemon Daisy cookies, which were so popular that they had all been eaten by the end of the weekend, and Papabubble gave a sampler of their adorable and divine-tasting little candies. Some of the candies even had the Store Adore logo in the center! Stewart/Stand came through with a phenomenal gift: their one-of-kind stainless steel wallets, which were THE hit of the weekend. All the guys were wearing them out. And finally, I thought we’d include something for the ladies in these men’s lives with a $100 gift certificate to National Jean Company, which they loved.

All in all, the Store Adore gift took the cake (or cookies and candy) for the best gift of the weekend. And the best news is that one lucky Store Adore Shopper will win this very same gift bag with all of the items mentioned above. All you have to do is get the most people to sign up for Store Adore by referring your friends here and this now-famous gift bag will be yours! Contest begins May 6th, 12 p.m. EST and ends May 21st, 12 p.m. EST. Buy a spring dress with the National Jean Company $100 coupon, give the wallet to a guy friend (he’ll owe you big time), and share the cookies and candy with your friends and co-workers!
